After all, there is not a moment during which one is not doing something. And given that it is used to express both doing and making, you might be using it twice as much as you imagine !

After the conjugation of faire, let us have a little phontic consideration. The sound ai in French is usually pronounced è, i.e. like the vowel sound in “bed”. This sound is repressented as /ɛ/ in the international phonetic alphabet.
For instance :
- faire /fɛʀ/
- je fais, tu fait, il fait /fɛ/
- vous faites /fɛt/
However, as we re talking about the verb faire, it is not always the case. When the termination of the conjugation is atonic, like in the above examples, the pronunciation is regular ; however when it is a tonic syllable the proununciation changes to “eu”, like the vowel sound of”hurt”, represented as /ø/ in th e IPA.
- je faisais /føzɛ/
- nous faisons /føzɔ̃/
- en faisant /føzɑ̃/
